Yeah, great post! I loved Priscilla's version for a long! Only knew it was composed by 羅大佑! Emil/Wakin Chau was my favourite! He was the one & only from whom I've ever bought the whole back catalog of! He was so good (talented: great voice/ compose/ write lyrics/ produce/ play instruments/etc). He released 3 Cantonese albums back then, bought all of them, loved them. I thought: his Mandarin albums from before must be great as well! So I bought all (if I didn't miss any). But soon after I stopped listening to Asian (HK/TW/JP) music for a while. I was more into the Western (UK/EU/US) again!

Yeah, I wonder which one is the original, since Priscilla's version clearly came out first. Was thinking if there was another mandarin version before Emil, you know, from one of the artists of Rock Records.

Need to do more research on this.

這首歌並非改編國語歌，而是羅大佑作給陳慧嫻的，他1985年定居香港，86年作了《東方之珠》給關正傑，作《海上花》給甄妮，88年作《人生何處不相逢》給陳慧嫻，並負責編曲及鍵盤演奏，1989年周華健翻唱為國語版《最真的夢》。

其實那時香港的滾石代理也在力 Plug 著他的“最真的夢” ﹐因為陳慧嫻改編了它成為粵語版的“人生何處不相逢”.

So, I guess we can conclude that Priscilla's version is the original then. I wasn't aware that 羅大佑幫慧嫻編曲 too, that's a good enough evidence for me. I prefer Priscilla's version a little more, maybe because I am so familiar with it. Emil's version is good, but I like another song of his more: 不願一個人 (also being covered into cantoese version by Edmond Leung). Interestingly, Emil is actually a 香港人, but he started his career in Taiwan and also mostly remained popular there. He was popular in HK for a couple of years back in the 90s, but then he kind of put his focus back to Taiwan after his third canto album.
