Is it a mixed? Dick Lee covering from Prudence?!
娃娃歲月
曲﹕Dick Lee (李迪文)
詞﹕周禮茂
Very good song? Never heard of them before! Thank you for this post! I strongly recommend Prudence'. Because the Chinese-feel is so much better than original/English version (it's more an easy listening 70's/80's "road" song for driving)!
It seems that Dick Lee' has the ending of previous included @ the beginning! Do you need a fix?
I think Dick Lee wrote this song for Prudence, and then he released his own version after Prudence's album was already released for a year. Cannot really say it's a cover per si, but Prudence version was the original.
I have to first thanks 鉛筆小丁, because he helped me buying this Dick Lee's album. It was such a delightful surprise to find this version, while I have LOVED prudence's version for a long long time. She sung it so beautifully. Despite that album was not very good at sales, I have liked it. I agree with all what you said about the "chinese" feel in Prudence's version being better. The lyrics is better too.
Did you really hear the ending of previous song on Dick Lee's file? I have played it a couple time, I really cannot tell.
As you stated:
Canto-pop favorite: Dick Lee - Old Chinatown {IT'S ENGLISH NOT CANTONESE!}
Album: The Year Of The Monkey
Year: 1991 {A YEAR EARLIER}
It should be 1993 according to:

Original version: 劉美君 - 娃娃歲月
Album: 娃娃歲月 Preview
Year: 1992 {A YEAR LATER}
I haven't checked those myself, just read from yours above! Have you got my file? I believe you re-uploaded with my file now! My hearing is very sensitive! ;P

According to his site:
The Year Of The Monkey
This album was recorded without much thought and effort put in it because I had been deeply involved in my musical Nagraland.
I was also at a loss of direction, and was getting rather tired of pursuing the Asian theme. However, another all-time favourite of time, Modernasia, which features jazz master Jeremy Montiero on piano, is from this album.
原來Dick Lee早在1984年LIFE IN THE LION CITY大碟已經唱了Old Chinatown.
