Thanks so much for listing the Alex To's originals here. When I'll have more time on hand, I would really love to gather a list for each of the following artists: 杜德偉, 鄭秀文, 彭羚 and 張國榮 (I am sure 鉛筆小丁 already have a rather comprehensive list for 哥哥.)
You're welcome! Well, now with help of xiami I can listen to those good "old" albums for checking for cover songs (and of course the originals). The biggest problem is I couldn't find all the composer's credits, music publishing info's and/or original "English" lyrics! Without these it's hard to track down the originals.
Get the Baltimore album before it's too late! The are some nasty vinyl files around. But this one is, I believe, from digital source.
About 「戲弄」的原曲, 其實Samantha's version is also only a cover song from the Rolling Stones. So the original should be the Rolling Stones, but you are probably right that Alex To's version was inspired by Samantha Fox's version
By the way, just upload the 原曲對照表 for 杜德偉. The problem is to find the composers for his earlier albums. I think I might have the vinyls in my old apartment. Someday, will see if I can go to dig them out. If anyone can provide any info composers info for his first four albums, it would be really appreciated
I'm not sure about 白井貴子 - Let's Go Love! For verification you either have to find a way to listen to this song. Or find Alex' lyrics sheet for checking the composer(s) credit!

Benny, the updated list I sent was based on checking his every album booklet concerned, so it should already be covering all the cover songs that can be found. For Anima, I will get the credits info soon. So we just have his very first album's info missing now. : )

Huh, you guys didn't know about this one!!!! It was on the first ever Favourites In Originals (1988) by Polygram/Polydor! Just found out about Terence Choi's version. That explained why Dan Byrd's Sayonara was on FIO while Alex To hadn't covered the song until 1992.

I thought about Wayman Chapman as the composer, but after listening to his stuffs, felt that it was totally different from the feel of 准我自我.

But who knows, the page you sent clearly stated that he was indeed in HK in the early 90s with a band called Mojo Six. Could be a song from them, or he did compose a song for Alex To back then already.
As for 准我's original, well I don't have the early FIO collection (the first 6). I might have the cassette tapes or vinyls long time ago, but they are all gone now. Do you have happen to have this track? I have tried to look online, no luck.
Griffin, I do have the FIO series (Vol.1-12), but I didn't realize the original of 准我 is in one of them! :)
For Alex's first album, I checked the 香港50-80粤语流行曲 book and found it perhaps has only two more originals to be found.

Well, I also happened to know it after Alex To's release of "准我" and I listened to FIO vol1 again! Hey, that's the beautiful original I was looking for!
There weren't many search results on Waym"o"n Chapman (except legal download for Alex To's 准我自我)! I've read somewhere that Wayman Chapman is R&B/Funk gitarist! Alex' song was pretty R&B/Funk! The reason, why his works from his first (2000) & second (2006) albums were different than Alex' song, is probably that dated from 1993! I've tried finding the previews of his 2 earlier bands ("Pressure Point" & Mojo Six")! But I just wrote to Wayman on www.waymanchapman.com asking which was the title of Alex' song! I hope I'll get an answer!
;-( I thought I was a proud owner of all the volumes of Favourites In Originals (vol.1-11 + Best Of Vol.1-3)! But now 铅笔小丁 broke my dream! I'm curious about FIO Vol.12! Which tracks I'm missing now? I hope I still can get the original CD from decades ago!

I've got a reply from Wayman Chapman! He confirmed that he wrote BSUR (Be As You Are) in 1994 for Alex To. Be As You Are, that's also what they kept singing in the song! 准我自我 that's also pretty much the translation of BSUR! I then asked him whether he did a demo of it & or he had recorded and released the song himself! Still waiting for an answer!

According to 铅笔小丁, I'll Never Forget You was covered from 杉山清貴 - Border Line. I have it and so this is verified. It is updated on the spreadsheet.
For 新款的夜半, I am suspecting it might be a cover of a song by New Edition, since J. Harris III/T. Lewis produced a couple of their albums before Alex To's cover. But I have not found any proof yet. Just a wild guess really.
單身個體, N.M. Walden aka Narada Michael Walden actually had his own albums released since the late 1970s. I have not checked his own albums yet to see whether there is a song co-written with S. Dakota.

Oh Gosh, you can be a full-time "originals" hunter! Impressive works! I am kind of surprised by how many songs of Cherrelle got covered, especially on the album 「The Woman I Am」, there are at least 4 songs covered by some great artists: Faye Wong, Sandy Lam, Cass Pang and Yolinda Yan. Now Alex To also have 1 cover, though this one is from the album 「Affair」.
I am going to look for 「The Woman I Am」 to buy 先.
Who's going to hire me? Does it pay-off well? I'd prefer part-time! Thank you for the compliment! It was luck! And nowadays there are so many resources to help us! Let's say 10~20 years back I don't think I can pull this off then!
