Wow, it has trouble with buffering/loading the first! Streaming broke many times! It's fine now ;)
I was the karaoke-trend back then! Tried to sing as many songs as possible in the karaoke! I prefered the original music video + backing music! I remember Angela Pang got my attention with her performance on Fitto's karaoke.

Later learned from Super Original: Hits & The Best that Laura Branigan was the original artist!

Angela Pang from back then sounds a little like Shirley Wong! She tried imitating every tiny bit of Laura's performance! Who can't blame her when someone's still learning! She turned out to be a great singer & she taught others in singing, right? Both versions are similar! But I like her softer voice more than Laura's raw voice! Perhaps it was the first impression prejudice ;D
Interesting, you find Angela Pang sounds like Shirley Wong. In fact, as I am listening to her today, I feel that she sounds like the early Cass Pang! Hehe... I guess they all have some shadows here or there.
I also like Angela's "softer" version more than the original. Like Laura Branigan, I mean she sings really good, but when all her songs are so expressive and emotional, sometimes it gets tiring to listen to after you listen to a couple of them.
Well, I also found her like Cass! But only a few words from the beginning or something then it changed to be more Shirley Wong (the early Faye Wong)! No matter which one she sounded like! They all three were/are some of the best female singing artists in HK/Asia! Of course there were/are many, many more like Sandy Lam, Sally Yeh, Shirley Kwan, Anita Mui, ... (just add your favourites to the list yourself)!
