This song is very 80s. Sam Hui actually cover it well, although I am not too crazy about the cantonese lyrics.
This was my contribution to this blog (May 2010)! I still remember finding this song! I was so happy cause this wasn't easy obtainable (from tv-series, not sure whether it was on any CD).
I felt in love with the song was probably because Shigeki Watanabe's brilliant arrangements! I Sam' cover more!

he was in the band "The Wild Ones" in 1966.
Included original has some sort of distortion @ 0:25! Checked with my 160kbps version: also like that ;(
i came across this LP yesterday. do u think Marlene version is the original to this song? this LP was released in 1984! her version is pop-funk. would it be earlier than Kidd Video's version?

@discowayne, many thanks for your input/finding. The song was written for the TV show Kidd Video. CBS broadcasted it. So it was possible that's why Marlene (CBS/Sony artiste) covered it. After some googling I found Menudo (Ricky Martin was a former band member) recorded their version as well (which sounds a lot like Sam's):

@discowayne,
Just found someone in helping me get the file. Her version starts slowly/quietly & building up. So it's different than Sam's. So I guess Menudo's is the inspired-by.
the songs writer, U.K. Singer singwriter Lynsey De Paul has released her version on her online music store - you can hear a sound clip here
