Recently I've listened to a lot of 葉德嫻-songs posted here! And also lots of 陳潔靈-songs with the search for her originals! I realized how great they & their voices are! They both have the similar taste (This Time I'll Be Sweeter) in music. And no wonder they the duet 千個太陽 together!

There are speculations: whose version was the original? I leave to you all! But I've you the "inspiration-sources":

葉德嫻 - 可人兒 3:36 was covering from Marlena Shaw - This Time I'll Be Sweeter (4:57)! Exact same intro, but faded out early around 3:30 just right before the ad-libs section: perhaps ad-libs wasn't that appropriate for Cantonese song back then!

陳潔靈 - 別 4:02 was covering from Angela Bofill - This Time I'll Be Sweeter (4:18)! I've listened to others, they don't have the same intro! There's also a duet version (4:09)! It sounds almost exactly as the intro of the duet but it was in 1983 by Angela Bofill & Sharon Cuneta:

I like Elisa's version more, Deanie's was so "loud/crowded" in the intro & faded so early!

I agree with Griffin, Deanie's version was a bit noisy at the intro. It almost sounds like the intro of 千個太陽. As a whole, for this song, 陳潔靈's version is slightly better, even though I generally prefer Deanie over Eliza on other songs.
