Big fan of them both! Although I liked Chris' version a lot but I tend to love Tommy's more (that's because he performed his own music with his own lyrics very well)!

I really like at the beginning of the song where Christopher voice entered the song, his voice was so clear and perfect, it caught my attention right away. Tommy's original sounds much more raw in term of feelings, and maybe like you put it, he was performing his own music, so he is able to express the way the music is supposed to. I also like in the middle of the song, Tommy has some speaking lines in the background. I love that. Overall, I like both versions, if I am not too greedy. :P
